hot damn high tech rocks!
acclaimed physicist presents exact solution of einstein's gravitational field equation - immediately solving two biggest problems of near light speed travel (finding the energy required, and not crushing humans in the process)

it's a building, finalist for a competition (tech description here, images here *drool*)

morse code translation app (requires java)

face transforming app - upload a pic of yourself, and see how you look when you're old, or young, or chinese, or, say, manga (requires java, but well worth switching it on for)

US military attempts to control weather using plasma
(ok, weather control is old news, but using plasma for anything is cool, which is the only reason these guys get a mention - making ball lightning in a lab, using *yawn* a microwave oven. Been there, done that, but, you know, it's plasma, so hey!)

nuclear (not nuc-u-lar, thanks Bush) grade duct tape (nope, I'm not making this up! and thanks happyinmotion)

an app to completely remove all norton apps from your pc (thank god! someone finally thought of the children)

what happens when you break a high energy circuit that still has 500,000 volts running through it (very short, very impressive google video)

the Japanese know nothing

of course, you've gotta respect uber low tech - how about a stone age tribe, numbering 50-200 who have successfully rebuffed the rest of the planet - including helicopters, with a rain of arrows? (oh, and managed to survive the 2004 indian tsunami)

I want all of it. I also want a pony and a plastic buddha.

I especially want a large roll of nucular (hee hee!) duct tape for BM.

Ooh yeah fusion baby!

Or maybe fission.

*stopped listening in 7th form physics*

fusion is the cool one. Ie, the one that people are still debating is achievable.

fission is the nasty one (ie, bombs, and, well, all nuclear work in production today). Think of the bad joke "What to nuclear physicists eat for lunch?" "fission chips".. now just remember that it's a terrible joke :)

also, the first 3 letters of FUSion are only one away from "Sun".. and fusion is what the sun uses to keep us warm and brown.

Euphemism ahoy

Therefore, in the Wendyverse where I was talking about something altogether different, fusion would be followed by fission. As I suspected

I am such a geek. I'm also not very brown.

It's one of those ones to "add to the list", including, but not limited to (and in rough order of likelihood):

rollable flat panel screens
cheap effective solar panels
decent batteries
cheap commercial space flight (to actual space, not JUST 100kms)
jetpacks for all
flying cars
the space elevator
light sabres
nanobots
decent, uncapped, cheap broadband in nz
a make money fast scheme that actually works

always interesting to read about (with a LOT of salt), but hey, do NOT hold your breath...

yeah, my life could definitely do with an undo button.

let me know when you find one.

after that we'll tackle nukes, starvation, various elections around the place (or hey, even how about just "people carting away legal vote in the back of a truck", and "people changing electronic voting stations so they return more votes than there are people in the electorate") and daytime tv..

and hey, you should know by now I don't know how to read, I only ever look at the pics.. it's quicker that way..

speaking of which, excellent link. It really is something else seeing quite that much power in action. Stunning, in fact.
